Lawrence A. Gabriel Jr.
Funeral Director
Lawrence A. Gabriel Jr. is a 1974 graduate of Carbondale Area Junior/Senior High School. He went on to pursue his professional calling at the Simmons School of Mortuary Science and became a licensed funeral director in 1979. Since then, he has continued the legacy of compassionate service established by his father and is proud to serve as Owner and Supervisor of the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc.
Larry Jr. is a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Carbondale. He and his wife, Linda (Fallon), are proud parents of five sons: Lawrence A. Gabriel III, Landon, Logan, Lincoln, and Lance. Deeply devoted to their family, Larry and Linda have always played an active role in their children’s lives and community.
Larry Jr. dedicated over 30 years as a youth football coach with the Carbondale Area Junior Sports Association, where he also served as treasurer. He also volunteered with the Carbondale Pre-Teen Park Association as a little league coach, investing countless hours mentoring and supporting local youth.
In addition to his work in funeral service and youth athletics, Larry Jr. has had a distinguished career in journalism. For over 40 years, he was a sportswriter for the Carbondale News, serving many of those years as Sports Editor, covering the local teams and athletes he knows and loves. As a result of his journalism career, he was recently inducted into the Northeast Chapter of the Pennsylvania Hall of Fame in 2023.
Larry and Linda still reside in Carbondale and remain passionate supporters of the Carbondale Area Chargers. Two of their sons, Larry III and Landon, were former head coaches within the Carbondale Area School District, carrying on the family's tradition of community involvement.
Above all, Larry and Linda cherish their role as grandparents. Their greatest joy comes from spending time with their eight grandchildren: Levi, Leyland, Layton, Aria, Sabina, Giovanni, Reid, and Hadley.

Lawrence A. Gabriel Jr.

Lawrence A. Gabriel Jr. is a 1974 graduate of Carbondale Area Junior/Senior High School. Lawrence A. Gabriel III is a proud 2000 graduate of Carbondale Area Junior/Senior High School. He continued his education at Marywood University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2004. Inspired by his family's legacy of service, Larry furthered his studies at the Simmons Institute of Funeral Service, where he earned his Associate’s Degree in Funeral Service in 2005.
In 2007, Larry began his career in education with the Carbondale Area School District as an elementary school teacher. That same year, he was named Head Coach of the Boys’ Freshman Basketball Team, a position he held through 2016. In 2009, he was appointed Head Varsity Football Coach of the Carbondale Area Chargers, proudly serving through the 2020 season.
Larry’s leadership expanded within the district, and in July 2019, he was named Director of Athletics. He earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Delaware Valley University in December 2020 and was appointed Assistant Principal of Carbondale Area Junior/Senior High School in May 2021. He currently serves as the school’s Assistant Principal and Athletic Director.
In January 2023, Larry became a third-generation licensed funeral director, officially continuing the Gabriel family tradition of professionalism and compassionate care.
Larry has been actively involved in various community and youth organizations throughout his life. He is a former member and treasurer of the Carbondale Area Junior Sports Association (sponsor of Carbondale Youth Football & Cheerleading), as well as the Carbondale Pre-Teen Park Association (sponsor of Carbondale Little League). He also served as a board member and Chairman of Publicity for the Northern Area Junior Football League (NAJFL). In addition, he is a certified PIAA football and basketball official.
On June 16, 2025, Lawrence A. Gabriel III proudly assumed ownership of Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home, continuing the mission of personalized, dignified care that has defined the O’Shea family’s legacy since 1998.
Larry currently resides in Carbondale with his companion, Lisa Sparaney, and their daughter, Hadley. He remains deeply dedicated to serving his community, both in education and through his role in the family’s funeral service legacy.

Donna M. Hudak-O'Shea
Funeral Director
Donna M. Hudak-O’Shea, a native of Peckville, founded Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home in 1998 with her husband, Patrick J. “P.J.” O’Shea. Together, they built the funeral home on a foundation of compassion, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to serving families throughout the Mid-Valley region—including Archbald, Blakely, Dickson City, Eynon, Jessup, Mount Cobb, Olyphant, Peckville, Scott Township, and Throop.
Donna is a graduate of Valley View High School and earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from the University of Scranton. She went on to receive her degree in Funeral Service from the prestigious American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York City and holds her National Board Certificate from the Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards. Since entering the funeral profession in 1986, Donna has remained deeply committed to guiding families with dignity and care through some of life’s most difficult moments.
Her belief in the value of service extends beyond the funeral home. Over the years, Donna and her family have been actively involved in numerous civic, charitable, and church organizations, including Meals on Wheels of Lackawanna County, the Olyphant Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Business & Professional Women’s Club of Peckville, the Mid-Valley Women’s Club, the Valley Community Library, the Raymond Henry American Legion Post and Ladies Auxiliary, and the Lackawanna County Funeral Directors Association, where she has served on the Board of Directors.
Donna and P.J. live in Olyphant and are the proud parents of two children—Ashley Miranda and her husband, Jonathan, and their son, Patrick. They are also loving grandparents to Nathan and Madeline.

Donna M. Hudak-O'Shea
Funeral Director
Donna M. Hudak-O’Shea, a native of Peckville, founded Hudak-O’Shea Funeral Home in 1998 with her husband, Patrick J. “P.J.” O’Shea. Linda Ann (Lawler) Schwartz
Funeral Director
Linda Ann (Lawler) Schwartz is a 1985 graduate of Carbondale Area Junior/Senior High School. Her compassionate approach, attention to detail, and decades of experience make her a trusted and respected professional in the field.
Linda and her husband, Matthew, have three children (Danielle, Deven, and Halley) and are proud grandparents to Anthony, Noah, and Amelia. They currently reside in Carbondale with two of their children.
Outside of her professional work, Linda enjoys traveling and cherishes spending quality time with her family. Her dedication to serving families with care and dignity continues to make her a valued member of the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home team.

Linda Ann (Lawler) Schwartz
Funeral Director
Linda Ann (Lawler) Schwartz is a 1985 graduate of Carbondale Area Junior/Senior High School. Funeral Director

After nearly three decades of dedicated service, they made the difficult decision to close their doors and sell the property—leaving behind a legacy of compassion, care, and community involvement.
Drew has been affiliated with the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home since 1986, providing decades of trusted service and support to families in their time of need.
He and Sue currently reside in Greenfield Township. They have two sons, Andrew III and Adam. During their years in Dickson City, the Yurkanin family was actively involved in several local churches and participated in Cub Scout Pack 21 and Boy Scout Troop 21 with their sons, building strong community ties and lifelong friendships.
For the past several years, the family has been dedicated members of Evangelical Free Bible Church, Waverly, where Drew and Sue remain deeply involved in the music ministry.

Lincoln Gabriel
Funeral Assistant
Lincoln Gabriel is a dedicated Funeral Assistant who takes great pride in supporting his family’s longstanding tradition of compassionate care in funeral service. As the son of Lawrence A. Gabriel Jr. and Linda Gabriel, Lincoln is honored to work alongside his father and brother, helping families through some of life’s most challenging moments with dignity, respect, and personal attention.
A proud 2008 graduate of Carbondale Area High School, Lincoln was a standout multi-sport athlete, excelling in both basketball and soccer. He now shares his passion for athletics and mentorship as the Head Junior High Boys Basketball Coach at Carbondale Area High School, instilling values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance in the next generation of student-athletes.
In addition to his work at the funeral home and his coaching responsibilities, Lincoln is employed in the labor industry, where he is known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He currently resides in Carbondale and is a proud father to his three sons—Levi, Leyland, and Layton. His commitment to family, community, and service is evident in all that he does.

Lincoln Gabriel

Lincoln Gabriel is a dedicated Funeral Assistant who takes great pride in supporting his family’s longstanding tradition of compassionate care in funeral service. As the son of Lawrence A. Stephen Glenn Moskosky
Funeral Assistant
Stephen Glenn Moskosky is a graduate of Fell Township High School and went on to earn both his undergraduate and master’s degrees in Health and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University. He is also certified in Safety Education and Driver’s Education.
Glenn dedicated his professional life to education, beginning his teaching career with the Mid Valley School District before spending 32 years as a Health and Physical Education teacher at the Carbondale Area School District. Throughout his tenure, he made a lasting impact as a coach and mentor, serving as a basketball and baseball coach at both Mid Valley and Carbondale Area. He also held the position of Athletic Director at Carbondale Area for 16 years.
Among his many achievements, Glenn led the Carbondale Area Chargers basketball team to an undefeated 30–0 season in 1993, culminating in a PIAA Class AA State Championship. The following year, the Chargers finished with a 29–1 record and earned the title of state runner-up. His teams’ remarkable 59-game win streak during those two seasons set a Pennsylvania state record. In recognition of his coaching excellence, Glenn was named "Lackawanna League Coach of the Year" three times and "PIAA Small School Coach of the Year" in 1993.
Glenn retired from teaching in June 2004 but remains an active presence in the community. In January 2005, he joined the staff of Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., where he continues to serve families with dignity and respect as a valued Funeral Assistant.
He and his wife, the former Anna Danchak, are the proud parents of two daughters, Deneen Moskosky and Krea Price, and grandparents to Tyler Emory Moskosky and Alexis Rae Price.

Bill Boyle
Funeral Assistant
Bill Boyle is a graduate of Scranton Central High School and holds a bachelor's degree from Mansfield University. With over 40 years of experience in the banking industry, Bill built a distinguished career—spending 28 years with Community Bank and Trust, followed by 14 years with The Dime Bank.
In addition to his professional achievements, Bill has served as a mentor to students from the Carbondale Area School District competing in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Competition, sharing his knowledge and experience in financial leadership.
A dedicated community member and lifelong supporter of youth athletics, Bill currently serves as Assistant Coach for the Carbondale Area 7th and 8th Grade Boys’ Basketball Team. He has also volunteered as an assistant coach at both the freshman and varsity levels.
Bill remains actively involved in many civic and service organizations. He serves on the Finance Committee at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, is a member of the City of Carbondale Zoning Board, and acts as Secretary of the Carbondale Technology Transfer Center. He is also the Financial Secretary of Carbondale UNICO and has previously served as President of both the City of Carbondale Industrial Development Authority and the Board of Marian Community Hospital. Currently, he also serves as Treasurer of the Lackawanna County Industrial Development Authority.
Bill and his wife, the former Ann Falbo, reside in Carbondale and are the proud parents of two sons, Kevin and Bryan Boyle. His commitment to community, integrity, and service continues to make him a valued member of the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. team.

Bill Boyle
