Stephen "Steve" Shaffer

Stephen “Steve” Shaffer, 47, of Carbondale, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital in East Stroudsburg.

Born in Scranton, Steve was the son of the late Jerry and Mary Lynn (Demianovich) Shaffer. A proud 1997 graduate of Carbondale Area High School, he went on to build a successful 18-year career with T-Mobile, where he served as a general manager.

Steve was a man of many interests and passions. He enjoyed working as a DJ, bringing his love of music and entertainment to others. He was also an avid participant in fantasy football leagues and a devoted sports fan who followed the Philadelphia Eagles, San Antonio Spurs, and New York Mets.

Steve will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Jennifer Shaffer and her goddaughter, Megan Horn, both of Carbondale; and Faith Mulhall and her husband, Timothy Sr., of Carbondale; as well as his nephews, Timothy Mulhall Jr. and Myers Mulhall.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ronald and Lubov Kilmer, and his paternal grandmother, Shirley Shaffer.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Steve's life during a viewing on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale. Cremation will follow.
