Sandra Staples, 68, Carbondale, died Wednesday at Regional Hospital, Scranton. Her husband is William Staples.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Pavalone Vitalianese, she worked at Gentex Corporation for 30 years. She cherished time spent with her grandchildren and enjoyed playing games on her tablet. The family thanks the Regional Hospital ICU staff for their care.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Billy, Throop; Brittany and Chris, Carbondale; Brandon and Kate, Carbondale; Tammy and Greg Krisa, Alaska; and Yvonne and Neal Bellas, Whites Crossing; grandchildren, Jade, Quincy, Brody, Skielar, Braeden, Tekoya, Anthony, Lavinia, Kadin, Kamri, Bentley, Amanda, Dana, Nealy and Greg; great-grandchildren, Kastiel, Tavian and Jusiah; a sister, Sharon Laguzzi and husband, Johnny, Carbondale; and an aunt, Lucille Roche, New Mexico.

The funeral will be Monday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. Cremation to follow. Interment at a future date in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Twp.

A viewing will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to the funeral home website.
