Russell “Russ” Symons, 76, Greenfield Twp., died Tuesday. His wife was the late Ann Marie Symons.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Russell D. and Dorothy Mullen Symons, Russ was a loving, kind, positive person who enjoyed a good laugh. He was an avid tennis player, enjoyed trains and billiards and was a sports coach to his kids in their youth. He was a volunteer grant-writer who secured many grants for local fire departments. Russ was an Army veteran and was an auditor.
Surviving are: two daughters, Kimberly Lisack and husband, John, South Riding, Va.; Leslie Seal and husband, Paul, Burke Va.; four grandchildren, Allison and Christina Lisack; Jackson and Parker Seal; loved one, Kathleen Vitzakovitch, Greenfield Twp. and her children, Shelly Garrick and family, Katie Costanzo and family, and Bill Vitzakovitch and family.
On Saturday, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. The family will receive friends at the church from 9 a.m. until Mass time. Cremation will follow. Masks and social distancing will be required in church. Please limit conversation so those in attendance may offer condolences to the family before Mass.
