Rinaldo R Alexandria

Rinaldo R. Alexandria, aka Alessandro, 93, of Dickson City, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family, with his devoted wife, the former Mary Ellen Donnelly, faithfully by his side. Just weeks before, they had been looking forward to celebrating their twelfth wedding anniversary on August 26, 2026.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Antonio and Felicia Alessandro. A proud patriot, Rinaldo honorably served his country in the United States Navy, an experience that remained a source of pride throughout his life. While serving in the Navy, he also competed in featherweight boxing.

Rinaldo was a man of remarkable talent, curiosity, and ingenuity. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice and a self-taught gift for the piano, he found great joy in music, especially jazz standards and the timeless songs of Frank Sinatra. Whether entertaining family and friends at the piano or taking the microphone for a favorite karaoke tune, he never missed an opportunity to share his love of music with those around him.

An accomplished winemaker, Rinaldo enjoyed crafting his own wines and sharing them with family and friends. He also had a lifelong appreciation for sports cars, friendly card games, and the occasional trip to the casino. Gifted with exceptional mechanical ability, he possessed a unique talent for taking virtually anything apart and rebuilding it better than before. His resourcefulness and determination were admired by all who knew him.

Above all else, Rinaldo cherished his family. He had a special affection for children, whose laughter always brought a smile to his face, and he found faithful companionship in his beloved dog, Scruffy. His kindness, gentle spirit, quick wit, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

Surviving are his loving wife, Mary Ellen Donnelly-Alexandria, of Dickson City, Pennsylvania; three sons, Richard Robert Alexandria and his girlfriend, Anna, of Newport News, Virginia; Mark Anthony Alexandria and his girlfriend, Dina, of Freehold, New Jersey; and Victor Patrick Alexandria and his girlfriend, Desirae, of Brooklyn, New York; a sister, Antoinette and her husband, John, of Boston, Massachusetts; a brother, Roger and his wife, Lorraine, of Boston, Massachusetts; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, including a grandson with whom he shared a close connection, Mark Alessandro Jr., and his wife Daniella, of Freehold, New Jersey.

Rinaldo was also loved and cherished by his wife's children, Reinaldo Segui Jr. and his wife, Renata, of Old Bridge, New Jersey; John Senia and his wife, Colleen, of Conway, South Carolina; and Leana Senia and her boyfriend, Mario Torres, of Brooklyn, New York.

Additional survivors include his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sharon Martin of Blakely, Pennsylvania; Jacqueline Brennan of Staten Island, New York; Irene Donnelly of Olyphant, Pennsylvania; Frank Donnelly and his wife, Gladys, of Brooklyn, New York; Joseph Donnelly and his wife, Pamela, of Shirley, New York; and Cindy Donnelly of Carbondale, Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace; his siblings, Carlo, Tony, Vito, Rico, Johnny, Joe, Connie, Suzy, and Mary; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Stephen Martin, Thomas Brennan, Patricia Donnelly, and James Donnelly.

Rinaldo's family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the physicians, nurses, and staff of Wilkes-Barre Medical Center, the Veterans Administration, FirstLight Home Healthcare, and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the compassionate care they provided. They also offer their sincere gratitude to the dedicated pharmacy delivery drivers from Andrew Brown's Pharmacy and to his two exceptional caregivers, Michele Poyer and Irene Donnelly, whose kindness, compassion, and unwavering support brought comfort to Rinaldo and his family throughout his illness.

The funeral will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. from the Hudak-O'Shea & Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Carlo Acutis Parish, St. Patrick's Church, 200 Delaware Avenue, Olyphant. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, New Jersey.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the viewing on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
