Michael J. Newcomb, 73, Carbondale, died Sunday at Allied Hospice, Scranton. His wife is Karen Oncavage Newcomb.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late Paul and Regina Munley Newcomb, he was a painter. He enjoyed weightlifting for many years and won numerous medals in competition. Michael loved animals especially dogs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: three brothers, Jimmy, Charles and Philip Newcomb; three sisters, Sally Warren, Margie Solomon and Mary Taylor; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Patrick, Robert and Paul Newcomb.

Graveside services will be held at a future date.
