Michael Cerra

Michael J. Cerra, 85, Carbondale died Tuesday at Forest City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Forest City. His wife is Nancy Taroli Cerra.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late Michael B. and Catherine A. Neutts Cerra, he was a hairdresser for 60 years. He and his wife owned and operated Michael Cerra’s House of Coiffures for many years. Michael enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, NJ; going for walks; and meeting people. The family extends its sincere gratitude to the Forest City Nursing Home nurses and staff.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by: a sister, Donna Arnese and husband, Gerald, Carbondale; an uncle, Anthony Neutts and wife, Clara, Syracuse, NY; nephews, Jerry Arnese and wife, Marlene, Carbondale, Michael Arnese, and wife, Jill, Fla.; numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by: a daughter, Michele “Tootsie” Cerra; a sister, Mary Ann Cerra.

The funeral will be Friday, October 2, 2026, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Carbondale (Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale). Inurnment will follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. The family will receive friends at the church from 9 a.m. until Mass time.
