Michael Andrew Bozym, 75, Olyphant, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, February 24, 2026, at home, surrounded by family. He and his loving wife, the former Patricia Kunchick, have been married for 51 magnificent years. She will always be his “Patsy Cline.”
Born in Scranton, son of the late Martin and Kathleen Bozym, he was the custodian of the Olyphant Post Office for over 45 years. Mike graduated from Scranton Tech in 1968, worked at the Veterans Affairs Hospital and served six years as a medic in the National Guard. He was a soul deeply rooted in faith, holding the Blessed Mother close to his heart and nurturing his spirituality daily. Mike cherished time with his grandchildren, sharing his insightful wisdom and lighthearted humor and loved them to the moon and back. In his golden years, Mike took great pleasure in the art of scrapping—finding magic in forgotten odds and ends—but above all, he thrived on lending a hand to anyone who needed it. His unwavering generosity and genuine spirit touched the lives of many in his community. Whether through a kind word, a helpful gesture, or simply his presence, Mike left a lasting mark on all who crossed his path. As family, friends, and neighbors remember him, they find comfort in the legacy of compassion and warmth that he leaves behind.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, surviving are his two daughters, Coreen Carpenter and her husband Scott, Jessup; Leanne Reynolds and her husband Tom, Milford; one son, Michael Bozym, Forest Hills NY; one brother, Anthony Bozym and his wife Nancy, Scranton; two sisters, Diane Palumbo and her husband Joe, Clark Summit; Sheila Schaufler, Scranton; four grandchildren, Colin and Connor Carpenter; and Charlotte and Cora Reynolds; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. from Hudak-O’Shea & Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Carlo Acutis Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, 200 Delaware Ave., Olyphant, by Rev. Scott Sterowski, Pastor. Rite of committal and interment will follow in St. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery, Peckville.
