Mary Oliveri, Carbondale, the former Mary Pastore, died Monday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She was the wife of Angelo Oliveri who died in 1984. They were married in 1948.
Born in Oneonta NY, she was the daughter of the late Catherine Norella Allegretti and Joseph Pastore. She was a devoted lifetime member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Carbondale and played an active role in the church. Mary attended daily Mass and served as one of first Lectors in the parish. She was a volunteer for the Parish’s annual functions. She enjoyed a full and active life; loved her family and treasured the time spent with her grandchildren, great grandson and her church. Mary was a graduate of Carbondale Benjamin Franklin High School. Prior to retirement, she was employed at Pioneer American Bank (now NBT). The family thanks Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore for their compassionate care.
Surviving are two daughters, Bonita Witts and husband, Ron; Catherine Wiedman and husband, John; grandchildren, Jeffrey Witts, Dr. Jennifer Rosa and husband, Ken; Jill Wiedman and Matthew Wiedman; a great grandchild, Angelo Rosa; a sister, Irene Oliveri; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant grandchild, David Witts; sisters, Theresa Corrigan, Antoinette Prebich and Kathryn Cerra.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 11 a.m. Family and friends will be received at the church from 10 a.m. until Mass time. Interment at a future date in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Carbondale. Online condolences may be sent to the funeral home website.
