Mary Dodgson

June 21, 1953 — August 21, 2025

Olyphant

Mary Dodgson, of Olyphant, passed away peacefully at home after a short illness, surrounded by the love of her family on August 21. Daughter of the late Donald and Peg (O’Haire) Dodgson, Mary was known throughout her lifetime as a kind and generous soul.

One of the eldest of seven children, Mary honed her caregiving skills at an early age. Always patient, unflappable and encouraging, Mary inspired her family, cultivated lifelong friendships and humbly shared her gifts with everyone she met.

Mary loved, and was loved in return by the people she served during her 42 year career with both the Northeast Educational Intermediate Unit and Keystone Community Resources. Upon retiring, among Mary’s greatest joys was to share her enthusiasm for everyday life with her nieces and nephews and more recently with their children. She welcomed every moment she had with the newest generation of the family.

Mary was a woman of deep faith, who lived out her beliefs with simple acts of charity, respectful interactions and a sincere gratitude for her many blessings. Mary’s example will be forever cherished by her family.

Mary is survived by her siblings, Donald and wife, Colleen, Kay, Brian and wife, Ann Marie, Grace Ann and husband, Ed Duffy, John and wife, Pam and sister-in-law Susan Dodgson, uncle, Kenneth Musto, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, beloved cousins and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her twin brother Michael.

The funeral will be Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Blessed Carlo Acutis Parish’s St Patrick’s Church, 200 Delaware Avenue, Olyphant, by Reverend Scott Sterowski, Pastor. Interment, Union Cemetery, 430 Gino Merli Drive, Peckville.

Family and friends are invited to Mary’s viewing, which will be held at the church from 9 am until 10 am, prior to the start of mass.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Hudak-O’Shea & Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 115 Garfield Avenue, Olyphant.
