It is with great sadness that the family of Marie R. McMyne, 97, Carbondale, announces the passing of their beloved mother.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Andrew and Lucy Jackovitz Rushen, she was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School Class of 1946. She was employed at several garment factories until her marriage to John J. McMyne on February 9, 1952. This year would have been 74 years of marriage. She helped her husband at McMyne's Market and later worked at Waymart Knitwear. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church (Our Lady of the Rosary Parish). Living her entire life in Carbondale, she graced us here on earth living each day with dignity, grace and pride.
She and her husband spent so many happy times together with family and friends and eventually built their own wonderful family. She was a very kind and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother who always made every holiday and special occasion something to look forward to with her cabbage rolls, pierogies, banana bread, pagash and her special cookies. She cherished her time with family.
Marie was a very devout Catholic. She would watch the 12:10 Mass on CTV every day and say the rosary along with them afterwards. Her rosary was in her hands every night at bedtime. Her hundreds of prayers and prayer cards were always with her. Up until the last couple of months, she was an avid daily lottery player and did not want to be disturbed when it came on at 7 pm.
The family would like to thank Dr. Neal Davis, P.A., Ann, and the entire office staff for the wonderful care, treatment and love given to our mother over the years. Another special thank you to Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their care and professionalism and her caregiver, Abbi, who was a special angel to her.
Marie is survived by her six wonderful children; sons, Joseph (Kathy) McMyne, Fell Twp.; Gerald (Jeanne) McMyne, Carbondale; daughters, Mary Ann C. McMyne, Carbondale; Jean Marie (Rich) Bomba, Rochester NY; Tisha (Jamie) Alderiso, Royal Palm Beach, FL; Karen (Fred) Mendicino, Potomac Falls, Va.; grandchildren, Richie Bomba; Anthony (Kristin) Bomba; Jerry (Katie) McMyne; Jamie Alderiso; Jessica Alderiso; Dr. Kara (Kyle) Gifford; Michael Mendicino; Jaclyn Mendicino; two great grandchildren, Raelynn Marie Bomba; Cecilia Jane McMyne and another granddaughter due soon; nieces; nephews; special cousins.
In addition to her husband, John, who died May, 2, 1980, she was preceded in death by her two loving sisters, Alice Flanagan; Ann Osborne; two brothers-in-law, Patrick Flanagan; Francis Osborne.
