Marie “Mary” Imbalzano Gillette

Marie “Mary” Imbalzano Gillette, 92, Carbondale, died Friday at Carbondale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Her husband of 59 years, was the late Joseph “Ditcho” Gillette.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Antonio and Josephine Alteriesi Imbalzano, Marie was a 1947 Carbondale Benjamin Franklin High School graduate. She lived in New Jersey for 36 years. Marie worked as a supervisor for, and retired from, Dell Publishing Co. in New Jersey. She returned to the area and lived in Forest City for 25 years then resided in the Carbondale South High-Rise for 11 years. Marie loved to bowl and to play cards. She was a member of the Upper Valley Bridge Club and Valley Lanes Senior Citizens Mixed Bowling League. The family thanks Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their care. Special thanks to Tony and Heather; and Jeannie for all their love and support during the last few years. Marie will be missed by all who loved her and knew her.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: a brother, Frank Imbalzano; sisters, Francis Russick and Angelina Grandinetti.

On Wednesday, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Carbondale. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:15 a.m. until Mass time. Interment, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the donor’s favorite charity.
