Margaret Maxine Carter, 99, Newton Lake, died peacefully on Wednesday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Edwin E. Carter.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Esther Wells. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Carbondale.

She is survived by: her daughter, Cheryl and husband, John Martines, with whom she resided; her son, Douglas and wife, Patti Carter; grandchildren, Lori and Alan Rudalavage; John and Tammy Martines; Chris Carter; great grandchildren Mara and Jerud Loch; AJ and Alexis Rudalavage; Johnathan Martines and fiancée, Katelyn Iyoob; Saylor Martines; Jordan and Dylan DeNike; Christopher Carter; Aubrey Wagner; great-great grandchildren, Carter and Blake Loch; Rosie and William DeNike.

Pastor Wayne Wolfe, First Presbyterian Church, will provide services at the funeral home and Willow View Cemetery, Clifford at the convenience of the family.
