Loretta Barrese, 90, Mt Carmel, formerly of Carbondale, died Thursday at Mt. Carmel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Her husband was the late Vincent Barrese.

Born in Whites Crossing, daughter of the late Stanley and Katherine McCabe Gorel, she worked as a seamstress in the garment industry and was employed at Gentex during her lifetime. She cherished time with her grandkids and enjoyed cooking and camping.

Survivors include: a daughter, Anne Nowroski, Mt. Carmel; two sons, Vince Sonny Barrese and wife, Carol, Carbondale; Bruce Barrese, Sheppton; four grandchildren, Mark Flederbach; Jason Flederbach; Cody Barrese; Monique Barrese; two great grandchildren, Zackary Barrese and Julian Flederbach; a brother, Joseph Gorel; Whites Crossing; a sister, Florence Bishop; Carbondale; a daughter-in-law, Shawne Barrese, Carbondale; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a great- grandson, Tyler Flederbach, a son-in-law, Albert Nowroski; four brothers, Frank Gorel; John Gorel; Stanley Gorel; Andy Gorel; five sisters, Millie Griffin; Katherine Yusko; Mary Connor; Sophie Homa and Anna Matthei.

The funeral will be Monday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary’s St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.

A viewing will be held Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
