June C. Cummings

June C. Cummings, 87, Carbondale, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Dickson City, after an illness. Her longtime companion, William G. Kelly, died in 2019.

Born in Elmhurst on July 19, 1938, daughter of the late Leroy Baumgardner, Mary Glusauskas Baumgardner, and stepdaughter of the late Walter Spooner, June attended Scranton Schools and Johnson School for Art. She worked in the garment industry and was a very accomplished seamstress. One of her favorite pastimes was gardening. She had a green thumb when it came to plants. She also loved cooking and was an avid reader.

June’s survivors include 5 children, Mary Ann Casale and husband Steve, Taylor; Barbara Manley and husband Robert, South Abington Township; Jo Ann Cummings, at home; Joseph Cummings, at home; and Tina Serafin, Carbondale; a sister, Paula Shanley, Olyphant; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and longtime companion, she was preceded in death by 3 siblings, Leroy Baumgardner, Marilee Fisher, and Dolores McGraw Holzman.

As per June’s wishes, there will be no public funeral services.
