Judith A. (Kelly) Heenan, 81, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved wife of Patrick Heenan, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.
Born in Chester, PA, Judith was the daughter of the late Thomas and Rose (Daniels) Kelly Wilkens. She was a 1963 graduate of St. Rose High School and member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She retired from Gentex Corporation, Simpson.
Judy was an avid Boston Red Sox and NASCAR fan and enjoyed working on a good jigsaw puzzle. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her family and took great joy in being surrounded by those she loved.
In addition to her beloved husband, Patrick, she is survived by her five children: Gina Heenan, Clarks Summit; Patrick Heenan and his wife, Ann, Carbondale; Kelly Moran and her husband, John, Carbondale; Sean Heenan, Scranton; and Marc Heenan, Carbondale. She is also survived by her brother, James Kelly, Waymart; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Thomas and Rose, Judith was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack Kelly and Pete “TJ” Kelly; and her granddaughter, Emily Tropeano.
The funeral will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale. Visitation will be held at the church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale.
