Joseph P. Galati, 76, Carbondale, passed away Thursday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. His wife is the former Diane Aileo.
Born in Carbondale, son of the late Russell and Elizabeth “Betty” (Ross) Galati, he was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Joseph was a 1965 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. He enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. They were the light of his life. He often visited his second home, Mazza Linen, as well as Tony Talarico’s garage. He enjoyed making wine and sopressata, and was passionate about his work as an electrician, locksmith and musician in his younger days. He will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife, Diane, he is survived by a daughter, Maryanne Curcio and husband Philip, Scott Twp.; a son, Michael and wife Kristina, Carbondale; a sister, Mary Ann Black and husband George, Carbondale; sister-in-law, Shirley Brown, Hawley; dear friend, Randy Reynolds, Carbondale; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Angelo; and a daughter, Mary.
The funeral will be Monday from the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. A viewing will be held on Sunday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
