Joseph D. “Joe” Bloomer, of Owego, NY, and formerly of Carbondale, PA, passed away on October 23, 2025.
Born on July 23, 1950, in Carbondale, son of the late Joseph and Anna (Howanitz) Bloomer, Joe was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School. He went on to earn a degree in music education and spent his career sharing his passion for music as a teacher with the Owego Free Academy, where he retired after many years of dedicated service.
Joe was a longtime member of New Life Ministries in Owego and shared a close friendship with Pastor Joe and the congregation. In addition to teaching, Joe enjoyed being a DJ and was known for his love of music, his kindness, and his generous spirit. He was a devoted friend who stayed closely connected with many, especially his cousin Don, with whom he shared countless visits and conversations over the years.
He is survived by several cousins, including his dear friend and cousin Don.
Family and friends are invited to attend Joe’s visitation, which will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Estey, Munroe, and Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St, Owego, NY 13827, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, PA.
