Jeffrey James Gomez

Jeffrey James Gomez, 68, of Forest City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his devoted wife, Eileen (Matrone) Gomez. The couple shared a loving and enduring marriage since June 28th, 1986.

Born in the Bronx, New York, Jeffrey was a devoted husband, proud father, and cherished grandfather. A skilled and dedicated auto mechanic by trade, he took great pride in his work and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Jeffrey had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed collecting Lionel trains, sharing jokes that brought laughter to those around him, and in the early years, enjoyed spending time out on the water aboard his boats. Above all, he loved his family fiercely and unconditionally.

Jeffrey will be remembered as a kind, friendly, and approachable man who could strike up a conversation with anyone. His warmth, generosity, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.

In addition to his beloved wife, Eileen, he is survived by his five children: Ashlyn Gomez of Middletown, NY; Christopher Gomez of Newburgh, NY; Cody Gomez of Forest City, PA; and Rachel Gomez of Ellenville, NY; and his beloved dog, Meryl Streep Gomez; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Gage, Ricki, and Zack. He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law, Angela Angell of Pearl River, NY, and Marie Matrone of Marlboro, NY; several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, David M. Angell Sr, dear friend, Maryann Bambi, and his niece, Jennifer Harrison.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during Jeffrey’s viewing on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2 Hospital Street, Carbondale. A Catholic Blessing Service will be held at 4:00 p.m., with cremation to follow.
