Ellen Morcom

Ellen Morcom, 89, Carbondale, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, at Carbondale Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Her husband was the late Ronald Morcom.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Rexford and Helen Oakley, she cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and family. She loved being a mom and enjoyed reading and gardening.

Survivors include: a daughter, Mary Hambke-Wade, Carbondale; a son, Paul Hambke, Philadelphia; grandchildren, Darla Lattimer and husband, John, Carbondale; Robyn Bonk and husband, Ryan, Simpson; Andrew Hambke, Portland, Oregon; Greta Hambke, Seattle, Washington; Michael Nally, Jaclyn Nally, and Thomas Nally, all of Greenfield Twp.; and great grandchildren, Penelope Lattimer; Allyssah Bonk; Caylheb Bonk; Landhyn Bonk; Mylhes Bonk; all of Simpson; a son-in-law, Michael Nally, Greenfield Twp..

One of 20 children, Ellen is also survived by her brothers, including Thomas Oakley and wife Nancy, New Hampshire; and Donald Oakley and wife Gina, Carbondale; and sisters, Margaret "Margie" Skinner of Beach Lake, Pennsylvania, and Elizabeth "Tish" Dubas and husband Edward, Clifford Township.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jenny Nally; her brothers, including James Oakley, Rexford Oakley, Charles Oakley, and Gerald Oakley; and her sisters, Eileen Yasnovich, Jane Harrison, Sharon Brady, Gail Cosklo, Ruth Shuman, Louise Messick, and Catherine Oakley.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, with a service afterward in the funeral home. Cremation will follow.
