Dorothy Armstrong

Dorothy Armstrong 74, Simpson, died Saturday at Geisinger CMC, Scranton. Her husband is John T. Armstrong.

Born in Johnson City NY, daughter of the late Clyde and Dorothea Ireland Johnson, she cherished time spent with family; enjoyed outdoor barbecues; playing bingo and cornhole; visiting her favorite store Boscov’s; and was a Scrabble champion. She was a Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA).

In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by: a son, Fred Armstrong and wife, Marie, Whites Crossing; two daughters, Katherine Smith and husband, Darrell, Pleasant Mt.; Sandra Owen and husband, Keith, Vandling; 10 grandchildren, Dustin Armstrong; Kristy Armstrong; Kerri Odell; Emilee Smith; Darrell Smith Jr.; Christopher Smith; Melissa Smith; Lindsey Evans; Chris Owen; Aaron Owen; three great grandchildren, Milana Armstrong; Magnolia Greene; Anthony Odell; a brother, James Johnson, Fla.; three sisters, Darlene Gender and husband, Mike, Pittston; Diane Paone and husband, John, Montdale; Beverly Murphy, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Debra Johnson, Florida; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: a great grandson, James Foster Smith; brothers, Allan Johnson; Donald Johnson; sisters, Debra Nolan; Shirley Belles; Sandra Coleman.

A prayer service will be held Sunday, October 25th at Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale at 5:45 pm. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home from 4 pm until 6 pm.. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
