Donald Thomas

Donald D. Thomas, 95, Carbondale, died Thursday. His wife was the late Carolyn Miller Thomas.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late John and Margaret Shaffer Thomas, he spent a number of years in the banking industry and was the former president of Carbondale First National Bank. After retirement, he owned and operated a number of various business ventures including Banacom Sign Company., the predecessor of Cerra Signs, Carbondale. He was a former Masonic Temple and Irem Temple member; past president of the Carbondale YMCA; and the longest tenured member of Berean Baptist Church, Carbondale.

Survivors include: three daughters, Donna McMyne, Carbondale; Debra Cerra and husband, Mike, Carbondale; Joyce Bognatz and husband, Stanley; Carbondale; 12 grandchildren, Jim McMyne and wife, Melanie; Donny McMyne and wife, Katie; Tim McMyne; Erica Loftus and husband, Ryan; Michael Cerra and wife, Cristina; Jeffrey Cerra and wife, Christy; Matthew Cerra; Kevin Cerra and wife Rebecca; Emily Erb and husband, Patrick; Alicia Bognatz and partner, Brian McCarthy; Ashley Bognatz; Katelyn Venezio and husband, Michael; 15 great grandchildren, Ashton, Declan and Harper McMyne; Colin and Kyla Loftus; Liliana, Cameron, Lucas, Gavin, Ava and Lorenzo Cerra; Benjamin and Cora Erb; Michael and Maia Venezio,. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jim “Bopper” McMyne.

The funeral will be Monday with services at 12 noon by Rev. Deborah Loessy at Berean Baptist Church, Lincoln Avenue and Church St., Carbondale.

A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at the church. Interment, Willow View Cemetery, Clifford.
