David Stanton, 74, of Newfoundland, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, after a brief illness. He is survived by his beloved partner of nearly 40 years, Gary Haffner, with whom he shared a quiet, enduring love.

Born in Montrose, David was the son of the late Phoebe McManus. He spent much of his life among the trees, working as a logger with dedication and skill. Known for his quiet strength and deep respect for nature, David viewed logging not just as a job, but as a way of life that reflected his integrity, patience, and connection to the land.

David will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his loyalty to those he loved, and the steadiness with which he approached life.

In addition to Gary, he is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2 Hospital St., Carbondale.
