Clara Lillian Montone, 94, Carbondale, also known as Nana, died Sunday at Geisinger CMC Hospital, Scranton.
Born Oct. 17,1930 to the late Chester and Mildred Rude Thomas, Clara graduated from Waymart High School and furthered her education to become an LPN. Clara had sass; had flair; and wore a bow in her hair. Clara was well known as Nana throughout the community and had many friends. Clara loved spending her time at the Carbondale Senior Center, where she could spend her time doing some of the things she enjoyed most. Whether she was caught up in a game of bingo or focused on her diamond art, she always brought a smile and warm spirit to those around her.
Surviving are her brother Jeff Thomas & wife Kathy; son, Dale Thomas & wife Charlotte; a daughter Darlene Poklemba, son Bill Dellia & wife Sandy, daughter Chris Dellia & fiancé Joe Fox; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Peter Barrett; son, Dominick Dellia; daughter, Marlene Swingle; a grandson, Justin Poklemba; a sister Elizabeth Schaffer.
The family thanks the staff at Dr. Bekele’s office and the Drs. and nursing staff at Geisinger for the great care they provided.
The funeral will be held Friday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. At noon, Pastor Deborah Loessy, Berean Baptist Church, Carbondale, will hold a prayer service. Interment to follow at Clinton Center Cemetery, Waymart.
