Chancey Seymour, 99, Carbondale, died Wednesday at Wayne Highlands. His wife was the late Rose Mary Mauro Seymour.
Born in Jermyn, son of the late Samuel G. and Pearl Dennis Seymour, he was a World War II Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. Before retirement, he worked for the Carbondale Department of Public Works (DPW). After retirement, he worked at Burlington Coat Factory. Chancey loved family gatherings, never missing a party. He enjoyed fishing and telling stories and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas Seymour, Carbondale; Samuel Seymour and wife, Debbie, Scott Twp.; and Robert Seymour and companion, Lisa Romanski, Clifford; two daughters, Diane Connor and husband, Michael, South Carolina; and Ann Marie Barbaro and husband, Tony, Carbondale; grandchildren, Stephanie, Roseann, Kimmy, Mickey, Michael, Chrissy, Peter, Tommy, Sammy, Matt, Erika and Jillian; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson on the way; a sister, Molly Cornell, Binghamton N.Y.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Harry; and three sisters, Jean, Mabel and Selena.
The funeral will be Tuesday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 2 Hospital St., Carbondale, with a blessing service at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment, Jermyn Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Masks and social distancing required. Please limit conversation so those in attendance may pay their respects. A wait may occur before entering the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to the funeral home website.
