Bonnie Schaeffer, 76, Carbondale, passed away Tuesday morning, January 23, 2024, at Commonwealth Regional Hospital, Scranton.  She was the wife of the late James. B. Schaeffer.

Born in New Hampshire, daughter of the late Russell Shaw Wallace and Margaret Nye Wallace, Bonnie owned Schaeffer’s Retreat Homeless Shelter in Carbondale for 29 years.  She enjoyed painting ceramics and loved the Christmas holiday.  She cherished spending time with her family, especially camping, sitting by the campfire, and going for ice cream. She will be truly missed.

Bonnie’s survivors include 5 children, daughter, Misty Ogdie, Carbondale, as well as Stacy, Michelle, Richard, and Jay; 4 grandchildren, Shaw Schaeffer, Russell Nye Thompson, Cynthia Marie Schaeffer, and James Charles Ogdie; 4 great-grandchildren, Ava Marie Ogdie, Rajah Stephen Kane Ogdie, Ethan Nye Schaeffer, and Nathan Gabriel Schaeffer; along with 1 great-grandchild of James’s on the way.
