Bernadette M. Imperiale, 82, Carbondale, died Thursday at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart. Her husband was the late Carmine P. “Buddy” Imperiale.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Frank and Alma Molinaro Tolerico, she was a selfless person who consistently put the needs of others ahead of her own. Bernie was always a caregiver to her family and friends. Her love was unconditional. She cherished quality time with her loved ones, good food and good laughs, and adored her grandson, Anthony, who was the light of her life.
Survivors include: her son, Chris Imperiale, Sports Editor of the Scranton Times-Tribune and his wife, Amanda, Carbondale; a grandson, Anthony Imperiale, Carbondale; nephew, Frederick Tolerico; nephew, Steven Tolerico and wife, Stephanie; niece, Ann Marie Torch and husband, William; niece, Cindy Imperiale and her child, DeAnna Spott and husband, Matthew; nephews, Brian Hunter, Jason Hunter, and Michael Imperiale; nieces Stephanie Imperiale and Christina Conway; her beloved cousins Maria Dacchille and husband, Nicky; Joseph Peduto, and wife, Diane; and Anthony Peduto and companion Corrine; and several great nieces and great nephews, who, she treated like her own grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Tolerico, and a niece Marcie (Tolerico) Burkitt.
The funeral will be Monday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 2 Hospital St., Carbondale with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (Our Lady of the Rosary Parish), Carbondale. Interment will follow in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 pm until 7 pm. Condolences may be sent to the funeral home website.
