Anne Weist McDonough, 84, Carbondale, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Andrea Conforti. Her husband was the late Donald F. McDonough.

Born in Honesdale, daughter of the late Harold and Agnes Robinson Weist, Anne was employed at Sugarman’s (Eynon) and by the Carbondale Area School District before retirement. Gardening was her passion and she enjoyed taking care of her home and her yard. She was a member of the Moxie Club and Carbondale American Legion Post 221 Auxiliary.

Surviving are: two sons, Donald McDonough and wife, Cheryl, Waymart; Timothy McDonough and wife, Nancy, Simpson; three daughters, Charlene McDonough, Carbondale; Dr. Michele Cerra, Apex N.C.; and Andrea Conforti and husband, Kip, Scranton; a daughter-in-law, Judy McDonough, Hilton Head, S.C.; 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Judy Larkin who stood by Anne’s side during her battle, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: a son, Ronald McDonough, and siblings, Janice Kendell, Joseph, William and James Weist.

The funeral will be Thursday from Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 74 N. Main St., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.

Viewing will be held Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
